Toast Talk

First it was avocado toast. Then it was almond butter with honey and banana toast. It is hard to believe with everyone committed to a low carb lifestyle that the toast craze doesn’t appear to be slowing down anytime soon. So of course, I had to pick up a toast rack the last time I was in London (check out a similar one here).

The Brits are not afraid of carbs and love their toast. They eat it around the clock, dip it in eggs, and will even eat their toast cold. We are starting to catch on here in the states as almost everyone serves up a nice slice of avocado toast these days and most juice bars and toast shops (yes, they exist) have extended their toast toppings to burrata, meats, ricotta cheese, and more.

With all the talk of toast - we are lucky to have some amazing toast shops in DC like Toastique and Fruitive

But why does one need a toast rack at the home? For starters, it is so chic! Talk about looking posh for breakfast! But the real purpose of a toast holder is to allow the water vapor to escape from the toast, so the bread does not become soggy. Who knew?! So now my little toast breakfasts just got more fun - Two for me, two for my husband, and no soggy bread to sour the meal. To make our toast even more special, we add a dab of Big Spoon Roasters delicious chai peanut butter to our toast. After I read the Bon Appetit article describing it as “…equivalent of fairies and cloudless 74° days and rainbows…” I knew we had to try it. They combined vanilla, black pepper, cardamom, clove, and ginger into this decadent mixture for us to enjoy.  Genius! So, if you want to elevate your ordinary breakfast, just add chai peanut butter, a toast rack, and enjoy!
