Macaron Tower

I am not a crafty person at all, but I always admire the beautiful macaron towers each time I pass the Laduree windows in Georgetown. When I put together my afternoon tea at home, I thought it would be fun to try and create one myself.  As it turns out it was quite easy.

What you will need:

1. Macarons assorted

2. Toothpicks

3. Styrofoam cone

I used this cone as my base.  Next time, I may try a smaller size like this one but the one I used worked great!  I kept my macarons in the freezer so they wouldn’t be soft or crumble easily when i applied them to the cone.  While I had a few offenders, most of the treats stayed intact throughout the process.  I measured out the macarons spots as best as I could and inserted the toothpicks to the designated spot on the cone. Near the bottom, I used the full length of the toothpicks but as I got closer to the top, I had to break down their size to make them smaller.  Then I would take a macaron and gently twist or push it onto the end of the toothpick.  You will have to play with the depth depending on the macaron brand that you use.  If you are a visual person, please see my Instagram reel here documenting the process of me making the macaroon tower.

I could have measured it differently to have less gaps but, overall, I am happy with how it turned out for my first go at it.  It delivered the appearance and ambiance I was going for to the table…and they were quite delicious to enjoy with my tea!
