A French market in DC

This past weekend my husband and I took a stroll through a French market. Sadly, we weren’t in France, but it sure felt like we were there.  Each year the merchants of the Book Hill section of Georgetown come together for the French market weekend and it truly does feel a bit like strolling through the markets of France.  As we strolled from shop to shop, there was French accordion music in the background to transport us to the city on the Seine.

Cafe Bonaparte was making yummy crepes and, as always, the tarte tropézienne from Boulangerie Christophe was calling my name.  You can also be tempted by the delicious pastries of Patisserie Poupon (we were!) or find that perfect piece you’ve been dreaming up for your home at one the numerous home stores that line the block. There is so much more deliciousness and cute stores beyond just those of M Street, which is why the Book Hill section of Georgetown is such a gem.

I wore this fantastic Maje dress that coincidentally has a Paris print scene on it.  It has a vintage feel to it and pockets which are always a plus for me.  It also comes in a skirt version and a midi version.

Maje is one of my favorite designers.  I first discovered the brand a few years ago strolling through the Marais in Paris and was excited to see Maje sold stateside. They are the perfect pieces for a stylish girl on the go!

After we had some croissants and coffee, we decided to head over to Dumbarton Oaks to stroll through the legendary gardens.  More on this coming up but we were in luck to find some wisteria still in bloom along with some beautiful tulips. If you haven’t been I highly recommend this hidden gem.

We completely forget we were even still in DC!
